Shredded is a webzine that finds beauty in creation. We prioritize the “productive” over the “bloated” in a space where young journalists, artists, writers, and designers’ voices can be heard. Shredded takes calculated risks. We embrace authenticity, creativity, and inclusivity by stripping convention. Shredded shares stories without limitations.
Co-Editor-in-Chief, Arts + Literature Editor, Film + Music Editor
Madeline Happold is an English and journalism double major, Spanish minor at DePaul University. She has a passion for literary magazines and discovering the beautiful writing of her peers. Her interests include reading anything she can get her hands on, thrifting, playing her bass & flute, staring at the moon, and exploring the great city that is Chicago. In the future, she hopes to become an English professor and live in the oldest, ivy-covered brownstone imaginable with her pups and a plethora of books and plants.
Co-Editor-in-Chief, Happenings Editor, Commentary Editor
Megan Stringer is a student at DePaul University in Chicago majoring in journalism with a minor in creative writing. Her hobbies include photography, making lists, reading The New Yorker, drinking too much coffee, curating her own Instagram, and dancing to LCD Soundsystem. She enjoys brunch and magazines, especially together. Megan hopes to one day make her home look like a bookstore, interspersed with a few good velvet sofas. While living in that bookstore-home, she would like to see Shredded continue to flourish and strangers continue to meet each other.
Social Media Editor, Events Coordinator
Elise Bang is a public relations and advertising major at DePaul University in Chicago. She loves decorating her room with art prints, drinking iced coffee during all seasons of the year, and shopping until her wallet hurts. When she is not typing up and queueing Shredded social media posts, she is probably daydreaming about that one time she met her true love, Ezra Koenig (lead singer of her favorite band, Vampire Weekend). In the future, Elise wants to pursue a career in social media or copywriting, own a puppy that can fit in a purse, and learn how to keep plants alive.
John Luckas is a graphic design major and art history minor at Columbia College Chicago. Besides his passion for creating beautiful and effective communication art he is an avid collector of vinyl records just like all of his hipster cohorts. This is not even the beginning of a laundry list of banal hip-isms such as his love of Lawrence Ferlinghetti poetry and sideline political activism.
Alex Lukawski is a graphic designer and illustrator who recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago. Her interests include playing guitar in her band, thrifting for vintage records and dresses, creating zines, and riding her 70’s Schwinn along the lake.
