First Saturdays at Mana

  • Mana Contemporary Chicago 2233 South Throop Street Chicago, IL, 60608 United States (map)

"Saturday, February 4 marks the beginning of our 2017 First Saturdays at Mana, featuring special programming and select open studios. This month, we are proud to launch the first installment of Five Works, a monthly project series organized by La Keisha Leek, Mana Chicago's Exhibitions and Community Programs Manager, that showcases 5 new and/or recent works from emerging Chicago artists in the Mana Chicago office space. This February features the work of Angela Davis Fegan, an artist who crafts handmade objects as a way to reflect upon the ephemeral and intangible nature of digital media.

The café will be serving complimentary coffee, wine, and bagels supplied by local Pilsen sandwich shop, Andorkas, and donuts from Front Room Donuts.

About the Artist:
Angela Davis Fegan is a native of Chicago’s South Side. A graduate of Chicago’s famed Whitney Young High School, she received her BFA in Fine Arts from New York’s Parson’s School of Design and her MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Angela has mounted shows at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Montgomery Ward Gallery, Galerie F, Chicago Artists’ Coalition, the DePaul Art Museum and the Hyde Park Art Center. Her work has been selected for book covers including How to Seduce a White Boy in Ten Easy Steps by Laura Yes Yes, The Truth About Dolls by Jamila and Secondhand by Maya Marshall. Her work has been written about in The Offing (LA Review of Books), Hyperallergic, Chicago Magazine and the RedEye.
